Today we focus on the approaches to sustainability planning that are particularly associated with the developing world. Our goal is to explore how the ideas and framework for sustainability planning that we have been discussing so far in a largely developed world context and Greater Vancouver in particular need to be revised in considering the developing world context.
To do this we will draw on all that we have read and discussed so far. There are no new readings. We also will draw on experiences that some of you have had while travelling and working in developing world contexts. Your web pages show that there is much that we can bring into our discussions.
To organize and conduct our discussions we will use Open Space Technology which originated with Harrison Owen. Please read about this different approach to process design so that you know what to expect and come prepared to join in the experiment.
